Hayden Wilkinson, owner of HDW Builders, is a licensed building practitioner with 25 years of international and local Wanaka experience. A second-generation builder passionate about revitalising buildings, he draws on diverse skills honed worldwide to specialise in eco-building and restoration projects.
Our philosophy is simple: build homes that stand out, are kind to the planet, and resonate with the people who live in them. This is evident in every project we undertake. While the use of vintage and recycled materials is a key feature of our work, it’s part of a broader, deeper commitment to sustainability. “Eco building is a passion of mine,” Hayden explains. “We use materials that are eco-friendly where possible, such as natural wool insulation, minimizing chemicals in products, and using sustainable timber.” Our eco-friendly approach extends to all aspects of construction, ensuring that wastage on site is minimized and products are sourced from reputable, and preferably sustainable, firms.
Since our inception, HDW Builders has experienced steady growth, evolving from a one-man operation into a dedicated team of three to five staff. This success is built on understanding and prioritizing our clients’ needs. “We like to advise our clients of the best path forward for them,” says Hayden. “It’s about taking the time to find out their unique situation and goals.
